The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Sakura ebi are tiny pink shrimp. Suruga Bay is the only place in Japan where they are caught commercially, and Yui is their best-known port.
The Harbour. We visit the port and, in season, see the shrimp laid out to dry in pink carpets on the riverbank. Lunch is kakiage, crisp shrimp fritters, at the fishermen's co-op.
Satta Pass. A short walk on the old Tokaido road over the Satta Pass, with the view across the bay to Mount Fuji made famous by Hiroshige's woodblock prints.
Yui-juku. The old post town street.
This is a private tour. Only your group in the vehicle.
Shrimp are fished in spring (about April to June) and autumn (about October to December). Outside the season lunch uses frozen shrimp and there is no drying on the riverbank.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.

No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
