The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Laid-Back Camp, known in Japan as Yuru Camp, is an anime about high school girls who go camping around Mount Fuji. Many of its scenes come from real places in Yamanashi Prefecture. This about 11 hour day trip takes fans to some of them.
We start in Minobu, the quiet temple town where the story begins. Your guide shows you spots fans will know from the anime. Then we visit Kuon-ji, the large head temple of the Nichiren school, with its tall cedar trees, a long stone stairway and a five-storey pagoda. We take the Minobu ropeway up the mountain for a wide view. The ropeway ticket is included. Entry to the temple grounds is free.
In the afternoon we drive to Lake Motosu, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. The view of Mount Fuji from its north shore is the one printed on the Japanese 1,000 yen note, and the lake shore appears in the anime. On clear days, Fuji views here are best from October to March.
Lunch is not included. Your guide can suggest local places to eat in Minobu. On the drive home we pass through the Fuji Five Lakes area, and your guide shares more stories about the places in the anime.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One family or group of 1 to 6 people per van, never shared with strangers. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.
If the Minobu ropeway is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead spend more time at Kuon-ji and the Minobu temple town, or at the Lake Motosu shore.

This is a long day of about 11 hours including driving. Kuon-ji has a long, steep stone stairway. The ropeway is an easier way up the mountain. Mount Fuji may be hidden by clouds. We cannot promise a view. If the Minobu ropeway is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead spend more time at Kuon-ji and the Minobu temple town, or at the Lake Motosu shore. Dietary needs can be added in the booking form.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
