Step off the beaten tourist path into Jimbocho, the Tokyo neighbourhood TimeOut named the World's Coolest Neighbourhood of 2025. Your private guide meets you at your Tokyo hotel and takes you by van to this historic book district, home to over 170 secondhand bookstores lining Suzuran-dori. Browse legendary shops like Komiyama Shoten (art and photography books) and Kitazawa Bookstore (rare English-language titles), even if you don't read Japanese – the atmosphere and architecture alone are worth the visit. Stop at Saboru, a retro basement cafe styled like a cave, for its famous pizza toast (optional, at your own expense). Continue to Kanda Myojin Shrine, one of Tokyo's oldest Shinto shrines and a guardian shrine of the city since the 8th century. Stroll through nearby Ochanomizu, known as Tokyo's musical instrument street, lined with guitar and instrument shops. Finish with an optional stop at Curry Bondy, a beloved neighbourhood curry spot, before your guide returns you to your hotel by private van.
