The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Northern Saitama was once a centre for indigo-dyed cotton, used for the work clothes and kendo gear of the Kanto Plain. A few dye houses still work with living indigo vats.
Dye your own. At a dye house you fold and tie a cloth, dip it in the vat and watch it turn from green to blue in the air.
The story. Your guide explains how indigo was grown, fermented and used, and why the blue was everywhere in old Japan.
The rest of the day. We have lunch in Hanyu and stop at a nearby shrine or the Tone River banks.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
