Road-day snapshot

This is your private tour, so the route is flexible: tell us if you want to skip a stop, stay longer somewhere or add a place nearby.

The experience

A private journey, thoughtfully paced

Most visitors to Tokyo never make it to the Boso Peninsula, even though it is one of the closest genuine escapes from the city, just over an hour away via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line. This private, door-to-door day tour takes you across the bay to Chiba's quiet coast and canal towns, with your own English-speaking driver-guide handling the whole route.

We start at the Nokogiriyama Ropeway, riding up to sweeping views over Tokyo Bay – on a clear day you can see Mt. Fuji in the distance. From the summit we walk to Nihonji Temple, home to a 31-meter stone-carved Buddha, larger than the famous one in Kamakura, and the cliff-edge Jigoku Nozoki ("Peeking into Hell") viewpoint carved straight into the rock face.

Next, lunch in the fishing town of Kanaya – try the local specialty, aji furai (fried horse mackerel), fresh off the boat (lunch at your own expense).

In the afternoon we head to Sawara, known as "Little Edo" for its beautifully preserved canal-side streets lined with Edo-period merchant houses. We take a relaxed guided walk along the water, and you can add an optional traditional sappa-bune boat ride through the canal on the day (extra fee, subject to availability).

This tour suits travelers who have already seen Tokyo's main sights and want a genuinely different day out – dramatic coastal scenery, a giant Buddha most visitors never hear about, and an authentic old canal town, all in one relaxed day trip with private door-to-door transport from your Tokyo hotel.

What you pay is what you pay

The price you see is the full price for your whole group. The private van, fuel, expressway tolls, parking and your driver-guide for the whole day are all included. There are no per-person supplements, no booking fees and nothing extra to pay your driver on the day. Attraction tickets are bought on the day by each guest: the Nokogiriyama ropeway is about 1,200 yen and the Nihonji temple grounds about 700 yen, plus lunch and the optional boat ride if you want them.

Flexible day

This is your private tour, so the day is flexible. If you want to skip a stop, stay longer somewhere or add a place nearby, write it in the booking notes or tell your driver-guide on the day and we will adjust the route where time allows.
