The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
In 1888 Mount Bandai in Fukushima blew away part of its own summit. The eruption dammed rivers and created hundreds of lakes and ponds in the valleys north of the mountain. Some of them turned vivid blues and greens.
Day 1. We drive north to Fukushima. In the afternoon we walk the Goshikinuma trail, about 3.6 km past ponds of different colours.
Day 2. Lake Hibara and the Bandai-Azuma skyline or lake road, with views of the broken volcano. We visit the eruption memorial museum and drive back to Tokyo.

Mountain roads close from about November to April. We will tell you before the tour which route your date allows.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
