The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Matsusaka beef is one of Japan's top wagyu, soft and rich with fine marbling. In winter, the bays of Toba fill with oysters, and simple oyster huts grill them by the bucket. This trip puts both on one table.
On Day 1 we drive from Tokyo to Matsusaka, about 5.5 hours. In the afternoon we walk the stone walls of Matsusaka Castle ruins and the old merchant quarter, home to rich Edo-period traders. You stay in Matsusaka or Ise.
On Day 2 we start with a Matsusaka beef lunch, included, at a restaurant in the city. In the afternoon we make a short stop at Ise Jingu Inner Shrine, Naiku, and walk the cedar forest. Entry is free. You stay in Toba.
On Day 3 we go to an oyster hut on the bays of Toba. You grill fresh oysters yourself on the table grill, with help from the staff. The oyster set is included. Then we drive back to Tokyo, about 6 hours.
The oyster huts open in winter, about November to March. This tour runs in that season.
Halal: Matsusaka beef is not halal. Dietary needs can be added in the booking form, and we can choose seafood or other dishes for you.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, 1 to 6 people, never shared. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.
If the oyster hut is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead have a seafood lunch at a Toba harbour restaurant.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
