The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
In Inakadate village, farmers plant rice of different colours to draw giant pictures in the fields. Each year has a new design, often from history, art or famous stories. You see them from high viewing towers, where the pictures look sharp and clear. The art can be seen from about early June to early October, and it is best from mid-July to mid-August.
On Day 1 we drive from Tokyo to Hirosaki, about 8 hours with breaks. You stay in Hirosaki, a castle town with the Hirosaki Castle park, which we walk in the evening.
On Day 2 we visit both Inakadate rice art sites. The first is seen from the tower of the village office, built like a castle. The second is seen from the Michi-no-Eki Yayoi no Sato area. Viewing tickets are included. Then we drive to Kuroishi, where the Komise-dori street keeps its old wooden covered walkways, built to protect people from deep snow. You can visit an old sake brewery shop on the street. We return to Hirosaki.
On Day 3 we drive back to Tokyo, about 8 hours.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, 1 to 6 people, never shared. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.
If the rice paddy art viewing is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead visit Hirosaki Castle park and the Tsugaru apple orchards.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
