The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Hamamatsu in Shizuoka is where Suzuki and Yamaha grew from small workshops into world brands. This 2-day private trip from Tokyo is for fans of kei cars, motorcycles and engines.
At Suzuki's history collection (Suzuki Plaza) you see how a loom maker became a maker of small cars and motorcycles, with classic kei cars, bikes and engines on display. Visits are by appointment, which we arrange for you.
At Yamaha Innovation Road you see Yamaha motorcycles, engines and other products, and the company's story. Entry is free and needs a reservation, which we make for you.
You also visit Hamamatsu Castle, the castle of the young Tokugawa Ieyasu, and you can try unagi (grilled eel), the famous local dish. The tour is run by a Japanese used-car dealer, so your guide knows the cars as well as the roads.
This is a private tour. Only your group. Your group of 1 to 6 people rides in one van with one English-speaking driver-guide, who also speaks Hindi and Urdu. No other guests ever join.
Hamamatsu is about 260 km from Tokyo, around 3.5 hours each way.
If Suzuki Plaza or Yamaha Innovation Road is closed on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead visit the Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments.

Can we change the route on the day?
Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help. If a typhoon or official weather warning stops the trip, we offer a new date or a full refund. For a GetYourGuide booking, the terms shown on that booking apply.
