From Tokyo: 2-Day Gujo Odori Dance Customizable Tour

Gujo Hachiman is a small castle town in the mountains of Gifu, full of clear water. Its summer dance, Gujo Odori, has a history of about 400 years.

During Obon, from 13 to 16 August, the town dances all night. This is called Tetsuya Odori. Music plays from a float in the street, and people in yukata and wooden geta dance in a big circle. Visitors are welcome to join. You learn the steps by watching, and your guide joins you in the circle. The dancing goes on until early morning.

In the afternoon you make your own food sample at a workshop in Gujo Hachiman. Plastic food samples are a famous Gujo craft. You make realistic tempura and lettuce from wax.

You also visit Gujo Hachiman Castle on the hill and walk along the Yoshida River and the Yanaka Mizu no Komichi, a small lane of stone and flowing water.

This is a date-fixed product. It runs only from 13 to 16 August.

This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, 1 to 6 people, never shared. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.

DAY 1 (13, 14, 15 or 16 August) Pickup at your Tokyo hotel, drive to Gujo Hachiman (about 5 to 6 hours). Food sample workshop, castle, then the all-night dance.

DAY 2 Late start after the dance, a walk on the water lanes, then drive back to your Tokyo hotel (about 5 to 6 hours with breaks).
