From Tokyo: 4-Day Shimanami E-Bike Customizable Tour

The Shimanami Kaido is a road of bridges that links six islands across the Seto Inland Sea, from Onomichi in Hiroshima to Imabari in Ehime. A separate bike lane runs over each bridge, with wide views of the sea and small islands below.

On day 2 you explore Onomichi, a hillside port town. Ride the ropeway up to Senkoji Park and walk down the temple path, with narrow lanes and views over the channel.

On day 3 you ride an e-bike on a section of the Shimanami Kaido with your guide. The electric motor helps on the slopes up to the bridges. Your van carries you between sections, so the ride fits your pace. On Omishima island you visit Oyamazumi Shrine, a very old shrine of sea and mountain gods, and its treasure hall with old armor and swords.

On the way back you stop at Tomonoura, an old harbor town with a stone lighthouse and Edo-era streets.

Your English-speaking driver-guide drives the van along the route and tells you about island life.

This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, one driver-guide, 1 to 6 guests, never shared with other travelers.

DAY 1 Pickup at your Tokyo hotel in the morning and drive to Onomichi (about 9 hours with breaks). Free evening.

DAY 2 Onomichi ropeway, Senkoji Park and the temple path walk.

DAY 3 E-bike ride on the Shimanami Kaido bridges and Oyamazumi Shrine on Omishima.

DAY 4 Tomonoura harbor town in the morning, then the drive back to your Tokyo hotel (late evening arrival).
