The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Yokkaichi is a port city in Mie with two faces. It is home to Banko-yaki, pottery known for its purple clay teapots. It also has one of Japan's biggest industrial port areas, which glows with thousands of lights at night.
On Day 1 we drive from Tokyo to Kuwana, about 5 hours. Kuwana is famous for hamaguri clams. Your clam lunch or dinner is included. You stay in Yokkaichi.
On Day 2 we visit a Banko-yaki workshop in Yokkaichi. You learn about the purple clay teapots and make your own small piece by hand. The workshop is included. In the afternoon we drive to Suzuka to see Ise-katagami, fine paper stencils cut by hand for dyeing kimono. At the stencil museum you see the tools and the patterns. In the evening we board a night cruise in Yokkaichi port. From the boat you see the factory towers lit up, a view known in Japan as kojo yakei, factory night view. The cruise is included.
On Day 3 we drive back to Tokyo, about 5 hours.
The night cruise runs only on some days, so we plan your Day 2 on a cruise day.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, 1 to 6 people, never shared. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.
If the factory night cruise is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead see the factory lights from the shore viewpoints of Yokkaichi port.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
