The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
In July the hills of Furano turn purple with lavender. This tour takes you there by car ferry, with your own van and guide, so you have the freedom of a car on Hokkaido.
On Day 1 we drive from Tokyo to Oarai port, about 2 hours, and board the evening ferry to Tomakomai. The crossing takes about 18 hours and you sleep in a cabin berth.
On Day 2 we arrive in Tomakomai in the afternoon and drive to Furano, about 3 hours. You stay in Furano or Nakafurano.
On Day 3 we visit Farm Tomita early, before the crowds. Its rows of lavender and stripes of other flowers are the best known fields in Hokkaido. Entry is free. Then we drive to Biei. We see the Blue Pond, a pond with milky blue water and dead trees standing in it, and Shirahige Falls, which pours from cliffs into a blue river. In the afternoon we drive the Patchwork Road and see the rolling fields of Biei.
On Day 4 we visit one more flower farm in the morning, then drive to Tomakomai for the evening ferry.
On Day 5 we arrive in Oarai around midday and drive back to Tokyo.
Lavender is best from about early to mid July. Bloom time changes each year with the weather.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One van, 1 to 6 people, never shared. Your driver-guide speaks English, and also Hindi and Urdu.
If the ferry is closed or cancelled on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead move the trip to the next ferry date.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
