Fukui is the dinosaur capital of Japan. Many fossils have been found near Katsuyama, and the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is one of the largest dinosaur museums in Asia. This private 3-day trip from Tokyo gives you a full day there and on the Sea of Japan coast.
The museum has a huge hall with dozens of full dinosaur skeletons, many found in Fukui itself. Moving models, fossils and a dig-themed area explain how dinosaurs lived. It suits children and adults alike.
Tojinbo is a line of tall rock cliffs on the coast, made of six-sided basalt columns. You walk along the top and look down at the waves of the Sea of Japan.
Close by is Mikuni, an old port town that grew rich from trade ships. Its streets keep wooden merchant houses and quiet shops.
Fukui is a long drive from Tokyo, so day 1 and day 3 are mostly travel days.
Your driver-guide meets you in the lobby of your hotel in central Tokyo. The van has room for your luggage, and we stop at expressway rest areas for toilets, snacks and coffee. Times in the plan below are a guide and can shift a little with traffic.

The museum can be very busy on weekends and holidays. Entry may need a timed ticket, which we book for you At Tojinbo the cliff edges have no fences in places. No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
