The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Gero Onsen in Gifu has been called one of Japan's three famous hot springs for about 400 years, together with Arima and Kusatsu. The water is soft and smooth on the skin. This 2-day private trip from Tokyo takes you to the mountains of Gifu for an easy onsen escape.
Gero Onsen Gassho Village is an open-air museum of steep thatched farmhouses moved here from the snowy mountain villages. You can step inside, see the tools of farm life and walk through the small hillside village.
The onsen town lies along the Hida River. Free foot baths are found along the streets, so you can sit and warm your feet as you walk. You also enter a public hot spring bath in town.
In the evening, many hotels in Gero have their own baths. Take your time to relax.
The drive passes through mountain valleys of Gifu, with rest stops on the way.
Your driver-guide meets you in the lobby of your hotel in central Tokyo. The van has room for your luggage, and we stop at expressway rest areas for toilets, snacks and coffee. Times in the plan below are a guide and can shift a little with traffic.

Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
