Kakamigahara in Gifu has one of the oldest airfields in Japan, and a long history of aircraft building. The Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum shows this story with real aircraft. This 2-day private trip from Tokyo pairs the museum with Gifu Castle on its mountain.
The museum has large halls full of real planes, from early aircraft and test planes to postwar passenger aircraft, plus a space area with rockets and models of Japan's space work. Clear displays explain how each aircraft was made and flown.
Gifu Castle stands on top of Mount Kinka above the city. Oda Nobunaga used it as his base when he set out to unite Japan. You ride a ropeway up the mountain and walk a short path to the keep. From the top you can see the Nagara River and far across the plain.
Your guide adds stories of Nobunaga and of Japanese aviation along the way.
We stay one night in Gifu so there is time for both places without a rush.
Your driver-guide meets you in the lobby of your hotel in central Tokyo. The van has room for your luggage, and we stop at expressway rest areas for toilets, snacks and coffee. Times in the plan below are a guide and can shift a little with traffic.

Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
