The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
In 1998 Nagano hosted the Winter Olympic Games. Many of the venues are still in use, and they tell the story of one of Japan's proudest sports moments. This two-day trip visits the main sites in Nagano city and Hakuba.
On Day 1 we pick you up at your hotel in central Tokyo and drive north-west to Nagano city, about 3 hours. We start at Zenkoji, the city's great temple, and walk up its long approach street. In the afternoon we go to M-Wave, the speed skating hall with a roof shaped like mountain ridges. Inside is the Nagano Olympic Museum, with medals, torches, uniforms and video of the Games. Entry is included. You stay overnight in Nagano city.
On Day 2 we drive west into the Northern Alps to Hakuba, about 1 hour. At the Hakuba Ski Jump Stadium you ride the lift and a short elevator up to the top of the large hill jump. You stand where the jumpers started and look down the steep slope. The lift ticket is included. Then we walk around Hakuba village with views of the Northern Alps.
After lunch we drive back to Tokyo, arriving at your hotel in the evening.
This is a private tour. Only your group. One group per van, for 1 to 6 people.
If a venue is closed on your date, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed.
