The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
The Venus Line is one of Japan's best driving roads. It climbs through the highlands of Nagano, past the open grass of Kirigamine and up toward Utsukushigahara, with wide mountain views. On this 2-day private trip you drive it yourself in a rented Japanese sports car.
Your cars are GR86-class sports cars from Omoshiroi Rent-a-car in Noda, Chiba. The rental, fuel and insurance are included. Our guide vehicle leads the whole way, so you can enjoy the road without worrying about the route.
Day 1 takes you from Noda into Nagano to Lake Shirakaba and the Tateshina highlands for the night. Day 2 is the Venus Line itself: Kirigamine plateau, then the road toward the Utsukushigahara Open-Air Museum area, with stops for photos. The tour is run by a Japanese used-car dealer, so your guide knows the cars as well as the roads.
This is a private tour. Only your group. Registered drivers drive the rental sports cars. Anyone in your group who is not driving rides in our guide van with the English-speaking driver-guide, who also speaks Hindi and Urdu. No other guests ever join.
The tour runs from May to November. In winter the high road is not a good place for sports cars.
If the Venus Line is closed on your date because of snow, weather or road works, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead drive the open roads around Tateshina and Lake Shirakaba.
Day 1 Hotel pickup by van, pick up the sports cars in Noda, drive to Lake Shirakaba and Tateshina, night in Tateshina
Day 2 Venus Line over Kirigamine toward Utsukushigahara, drive to Noda to return the cars, then the drive back to your Tokyo hotel

Every driver needs their home driving licence plus an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva Convention) or an official Japanese translation of the licence. Minimum driver age is 21. Other group members ride in the van and can swap at stops. Can we change the route on the day?
Yes. It is a private tour in our own van, so your driver-guide can skip, extend or add stops where time allows.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is for your whole private group of up to 6 people, including the van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help. If a typhoon or official weather warning stops the trip, we offer a new date or a full refund. For a GetYourGuide booking, the terms shown on that booking apply.
