The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Gala Yuzawa is the easiest snow in Japan: a resort built on top of its own bullet-train station, ninety minutes from Tokyo, with everything rented on site. The trouble is the crowds on the trains and the queues for gear. In a private van you arrive at your own pace, your driver handles the parking, and you spend the day on the snow instead of in lines.
We collect you in Tokyo early and drive north through the tunnels into Niigata – the same journey the novelist Kawabata described in Snow Country, and it still looks like that. At Gala Yuzawa you rent skis, boards, clothing and boots in one building, ride the gondola up, and choose between beginner slopes with English lessons, intermediate runs, or the snow play park with sledges and tubing for children and anyone who does not want to ski.
Your guide is on hand all day for the rental desk, the lift passes and lunch in the mountain restaurant. In the afternoon, before the drive back, we stop at a hot spring in Yuzawa town so you go home warm.
What you pay is what you pay
The price is one fixed amount for your whole group: the private van, fuel, tolls, parking and your driver-guide for the day. There are no per-person supplements and no booking fees. Lift passes, gear rental, lessons, lunch and the onsen entry are paid by each guest on the day at the resort.
Good to know
Gala Yuzawa is open roughly mid-December to early May. Bring warm layers, gloves and sunglasses; everything else can be rented. Snow play tubing and sledging need no experience at all.

What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
