2-day flagship · Takayama and Shirakawa-go, Gifu, in the Japan Alps
Shirakawa-go Farmhouse Village and Takayama 2-Day Private Tour
Sleep inside the UNESCO thatched-roof village of Shirakawa-go and walk it at sunrise before the buses arrive, with two full days of Takayama and the Alps and the same private guide throughout. Our two-day service; you choose and pay your own farmhouse stay.
Road-day snapshot
Day one runs Tokyo to Takayama with the old town in the afternoon, then into Shirakawa-go before dark. Day two is a sunrise village walk, the observation deck and Wada House, then the drive back.
The experience
A private journey, thoughtfully paced
Two days in the Japan Alps with your own private guide and van: the Edo streets of Takayama on day one, a night inside the UNESCO thatched-roof village of Shirakawa-go, and a sunrise walk through the village on day two before the tour buses arrive. You keep the same guide and vehicle the whole way, and you set the pace.
This is priced as our two-day driving and guiding service. Your farmhouse night is booked separately and paid by you; tell us and we will arrange a room in a real gassho-zukuri minshuku, or book your own. It keeps the price honest and lets you choose the stay that suits you.
Choose with confidence
Is this the right journey for your group?
Excellent fit if
- Travellers who want the village empty at dawn, not a coach stop
- Couples and families after a slower, deeper trip
- Photographers who want the Alps and thatched roofs in soft light
Consider another option if
- You only have one day (see our day tours instead)
- You want everything bundled into one payment (the farmhouse is booked and paid separately)
- Your group is larger than four
Said plainly
The price is our two-day driving and guiding service only. The farmhouse night, your meals, and the small admissions at Takayama Jinya and Wada House are paid by you. We are glad to reserve the farmhouse for you on request; farmhouse rooms in the village are limited and book up early in autumn and winter, so ask well ahead.

Questions
Frequently asked
Is the farmhouse stay included in the price?
No. The price is our two-day private driving and guiding service. You book and pay your own farmhouse night, and we are glad to arrange it for you on request. Rooms in the village are limited, so ask early.
Why book the farmhouse separately?
It keeps the price honest and lets you choose the room and budget that suit you. Village farmhouses vary a lot, and prices change by season, so we quote the real room rather than a padded estimate.
How many people can join?
Up to four, so everyone travels comfortably in one van across two days with luggage. Larger groups, ask us and we will plan a second vehicle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for an automatic full refund to the original payment method. Within 24 hours, contact us directly so we can help.
